Kenya BDS Vision (KBV)
Improving the quality and coordination of enterprise support services in Kenya.
The Kenya BDS Vision is a national multi-stakeholder platform working to strengthen how business development services (BDS) are delivered across Kenya. By aligning actors around shared standards, practical tools, and market-linked delivery models, KBV helps MSMEs, agribusinesses, and farmer organisations improve productivity, access markets, and strengthen business performance.

Why the Kenya BDS Vision
Across Kenya, many organisations provide enterprise support services such as training, advisory services, coaching, incubation, and farmer support programmes.
However, delivery quality varies, results are difficult to compare, and programmes often operate in isolation.
This makes it difficult for enterprises to consistently benefit from these services and for partners to learn what works best.
The Kenya BDS Vision helps address this challenge by aligning ecosystem actors around a shared approach to improving the quality and performance of enterprise support services.
It promotes standards-referenced delivery, stronger coordination, and market-integrated models that help enterprises improve productivity, market access, and finance readiness.
What KBV Is vs What KBV Is Not
KBV Is
-
A national platform that brings together government, BDS providers, and partners to improve business support services.
-
A shared agenda to strengthen the quality and performance of BDS in Kenya.
-
Guided by national standards and focused on real market outcomes for MSMEs and agribusinesses.
-
A practical pathway that helps providers align with KS ISO 18716:2024 and improve service delivery.
KBV Is Not
-
An implementing agency that runs enterprise programmes.
-
A procurement gatekeeper that controls funding or programme access.
-
A certification or accreditation authority (those roles remain with legally mandated
institutions). -
A replacement for existing BDS programmes or initiatives.
KBV supports coordination and improvement across the ecosystem but does not replace
the role of existing institutions or programmes.
